ENF@DH

This year we are partnering with East Neuk Festival for two exciting events at Dreel Halls. We have a free, drop-in film screening – a joyous celebration of the Scottish weather in film and music from the East Neuk’s very own David Behrens (for details see below), but first up, we have some mellow jazz:

Helena Kay’s Kim Trio &  Jonny Mansfield
Friday 1st July, 6pm

Sublime Music That Stirs The Senses And Emotions‘ [Glasgow Herald]
Scottish tenor sax player, Helena Kay, played with Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra in her teens, and after studies in New York and London, she’s building a formidable reputation as a true rising star of jazz. She brings us her trio, with guest vibes player, Jonny Mansfield, for an hour of rich, mellow jazz that fits right into the great tradition of Sonny Rollins and Charlie Parker, but speaks a language all their own.

Thunderplump Film Show
Saturday 2nd July, 11am – 4pm

East Neuk’s David Behrens has travelled Scotland over the past year to film the great Scottish weather in some glorious and great Scottish landscapes.  His films lie at the heart of ENF’s big project this year – Thunderplump (tickets and information on the Thunderplump event here) – but here is a chance to enjoy them in their own right, re-cut to form a spectacular film installation. The film will run on a loop between 11am and 4pm – drop in any time.
