Early Years Project Coordinator appointed in Anstruther

Anstruther Improvements Association has appointed an Early Years Project Coordinator to lead its early years programme. Funded by Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) Offshore Wind Farm Fund – Fife (Anstruther), administered by Foundation Scotland, the AIA has engaged Teresa Sherratt Fynn in the newly created role. Teresa will be tasked with leading activities to enhance and enrich the early years experience of children in the local area.

The AIA Early Years Project provides vital social and developmental support for local families. Catering primarily to children aged 0–4 years and their caregivers, the project aims to ensure community cohesion and provide a range of activities taking place regularly throughout the year. By fostering connections and local partnerships, the AIA is working towards its vision to build a thriving, resilient community.

Along with a group of parent volunteers, Teresa will coordinate the weekly Dreel Babies & Toddlers group, facilitating literacy, play, social and peer support. She will also coordinate the fortnightly volunteer-led Community Bookbug sessions. These popular sessions are run from Dreel Halls, as well as various locations throughout the community, including Anstruther Fire Station, The Scottish Fisheries Museum and Willow House Care Home.

Teresa is also tasked with continuing to develop the project and its activities, as well as ensuring its sustainability. She will be looking to identify fundraising opportunities and new ways of engaging with the community. Teresa said: “I feel so excited to have been given this opportunity and am looking forward to developing the project with the AIA.”

Teresa has already begun the task of broadening the reach of the project through engaging with families on social media platforms. She has been developing the newly created Facebook group, Anster Tots, and will shortly be working with AIA to create a dedicated space on Instagram.

To inform the next steps in our project and gather information the AIA invites local parents and carers to please spend a few minutes to complete the short AIA Early Years Project Survey

Those wishing to support the AIA and Teresa in the early years project, or to volunteer at one of the activities, are invited to get in touch by email: teresa@anstrutherimprovements.org.
