Our Story:
What draws us to our beautiful area (the home of Scottish Coastal Rowing) is the wind, water and wildlife.
There is a long history of fishing in the community. Many of our rowers still have a connection to the sea with fishermen in their family. The names of our boats, Chris o’Kinnaird, St Ayles and Coull D, reflect this.
Sharing our sport with like-minded people enhances our mindfulness and leaves you with a fresh outlook on life. It is easy to switch off when rowing, listening to the sound of the oars rhythmically slicing into the water and feeling the wind on your body.
Our happy place is in the skiff, rowing, racing and working as a team. We love talking to passers-by about our rowing and surrounding area. We usually have someone on the beach waiting their turn to row. This gives them the opportunity to chat with visitors to the area and give them the history of the skiffs and fishing. We also encourage them NOT to feed the gulls! On a morning row we fill the bins that the gulls have attacked!
The cleanliness of the beach has improved over the years, and we strive to do our best to clean it when we are rowing. We even use anything we see floating on the water as a man overboard exercise, mostly empty cans. For our future we hope to continue holding regattas and community challenges from our beach. These events have allowed us to share our love of our beach and the sea. Hopefully this will continue and encourage the next generation to look after this beautiful coastline.

Our Climate Commitment:
We promise to carry on with what the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association have done to date, keeping the area we use clean and pollution-free.
